The automatic gearbox – for 250 hp up to 480 hp – impresses with improved gear-change quality and a new low-friction oil with optimised viscosity. This ensures gentle, quiet gearshifts. Fuel consumption is also reduced considerably thanks to improved retarder output.
The MAN TipMatic – for 280 hp up to 520 hp – ensures a lower level of inside noise and reduced fuel consumption with an axle ratio of i=2.73. Fast, comfortable gearshifts are possible thanks to Smartshift.
Cool ideas
The fold-out intercooler stands out with its high level of reliability and cleverly conceived design; it not only allows good accessibility to all the important areas at all times, but is also easy to maintain and user-friendly. The engine is always reliably cooled by the easy-to-clean intercooler. This significantly increases the service life of the engine, meaning both the engine and the technician can stay cool.
Digital cockpit
The digital cockpit has a 12-inch digital display and can be easily adjusted to suit a wide range of needs. The multi-function steering wheel can be adjusted in height and angle to ensure a perfectly ergonomic workplace. In addition, all controls are positioned so that they are easy to reach from a comfortable driving position and do not distract the driver's attention from the road ahead.

Successful début in South Africa: The first fully electric complete bus has been officially handed over in Cape Town in the form of the Lion's Explorer E, representing a significant step towards safer, quieter and cleaner mobility for all. The eBus is based on the new Lion‘s Chassis E. What makes this vehicle special is the fact that it was completely developed and built in South Africa. This approach means that the Lion's Explorer E is optimally tailored to the requirements of the South African market and can help to promote electromobility there.
Advancing environmentally friendly mobility and making transport in cities all over the world even cleaner, quieter and safer: This is the goal MAN is pursuing with its new MAN eBus chassis – because we don’t stop at low emission, we strive for no emission. Thanks to our knowledge and expertise gained with the MAN Lion’s City E, we already have the required know-how to implement this goal with our eBus chassis. The first pre-series models are to be delivered as early as , and the start of series production of the new MAN eBus chassis at the Starachowice plant in Poland is planned from . The MAN Lion’s City E – for which more than 1,000 orders have been received to date – is also manufactured there.
MAN Hong Kong introduces a new intercity bus based on MAN design: the MAN RR8 + GEMILANG. This vehicle concept – cleverly using an aluminium alloy – consistently continues MAN’s success story of design and quality in the Hong Kong market. With its dimensions deliberately chosen between low and high floor chassis and up to 65 seats, the MAN RR8 + GEMILANG makes travelling more comfortable for its passengers and more efficient for its operators. The new bus generation is mainly used for shuttle and school bus services – by Kwoon Chung, one of the largest non-franchised bus operators in Hong Kong.
World premiere: In Australia, the reliable RR8 chassis from MAN is now available with the Audace body from body manufacturer Marcopolo. The new chassis and body combination impresses with its quality and versatility and is ideal as a coach, school bus or for intercity use. The bus is powered by the MAN D15 Euro 6 engine of the latest generation, which can contribute to higher efficiency and passenger capacity thanks to its lower weight. In addition, customers benefit from the broad service network of the local body manufacturer Volgren, which belongs to the Marcopolo company.
The Porto public transport company STCP uses the entire urban transport ecosystem to provide competitive and environmentally friendly solutions as an alternative to private transport. For a sustainable future, STCP has now invested in 81 natural gas buses – 62 MAN A22 CNG Low Floor chassis and 19 MAN A69 CNG Low Entry chassis. Thanks to their unlimited versatility, MAN bus chassis can meet almost any requirement. This allowed to equip both variants with a body manufactured entirely in Portugal by Caetano Bus.
CARRIS, the largest Portuguese public transport company based in Lisbon, has comprehensively and sustainably strengthened its fleet by acquiring 70 natural gas buses and 33 minibuses. With the goal of urban CO2 reduction, environmentally friendly vehicles are becoming increasingly crucial – one reason why the CNG bus model MAN A69 19.310 LE was chosen and combined with a body manufactured by Irmãos Mota. This model ensures enough autonomy in daily operation while reducing harmful particles – thus perfectly matching CARRIS’ principles of quality without compromising on sustainability.

In Israel, the customer EGGED ordered four MAN RR4 chassis with 430 hp Euro 6d engine and automatic ZF Ecolife gearbox, which are being tested on a rural route from Aviv to Rishon Lezion. The buses – with superstructures provided by the Spanish company UNVI – have a total capacity of 85 passengers - with 74 seats, standing room for 10 passengers, and room for one wheelchair. A two-stair configuration allows for comfortable passenger flow between both decks.
The buses are equipped with a second staircase and an additional exit door at the rear of the bus to improve commuter flow. Thanks to the extra staircase, passengers boarding the bus can enter the upper deck while commuters alighting the bus use the second staircase to access the lower deck. The additional exit door allows passengers to alight at the rear instead of having to move to the middle of the bus. The superstructures for the double-decker buses were built onto an A95 chassis by the Malaysian company Gemilang.

Want help with charging infrastructure planning? Need introductions to the right green energy partner? Would you benefit from operational planning support? Want to finance not only vehicles, but also charging infrastructure? Is repair and maintenance staff in place or would a Scania workshop on your premises be helpful? No matter the context – we’ve got you covered.
The full solution is also what determines the operating economy. When factoring in every detail in the long-term instead of looking at individual factors in the short-term – it’s clear that the Scania focus on energy efficiency, reliability and smart digital services are all key for providing the best return-on-investment.
Battery capacity is not only about range, but rather about having the right amount of energy installed for the operation. It is of utmost importance to determine a suitable energy level based on the specific needs and prerequisites, also factoring in aspects such as investment cost and battery weight. Scania offers electric buses with several options of installed energy – 312 kWh, 416 kWh, and 520 kWh – and provides specification guidance to make sure the appropriate amount is selected.
The low-entry electric bus comes in two different chassis widths – and mm – and is suitable for usage all over the world in both medium and heavy-duty operations, in both Class I and Class II. Additionally, the two different axle gears available provide ratio options that work in even the most challenging topography.
Connected digital solutions enhance your vehicles with everything from advanced safety features and remote diagnostics, to real-time maps and geofencing functionality. And to help drivers quickly adopt the new technology, the Smart Dash provides the ultimate interface for confident electric operation in every sense – with a seamless user centric and dynamic approach. With continuous wireless updates and full integration in your fleet management tools – your are future proof from the start.
Scania´s charging solutions are continuously improved. Our charging interfaces, battery management system, and battery packs allow for charging speeds of up to 325 kW, providing short charging time and high vehicle availability. All while ensuring protection against hazards and also being both reliable and durable, also in harsh environments. With the option to place the charging port in either the front (195 kW) or rear (325 kW), the buses can be specified according to particular requirements.
Battery electric buses from Scania come with several power options – 240 kW, 270 kW, 300 kW and 330 kW (continuous) – providing flexibility to meet the needs of various operating assignments and conditions. The advanced e-machine and its integrated two or four-speed gearbox results in a highly energy-efficient powertrain that offers the power and startability needed, even in hills or heavy-duty operations. Fully harmonised in our battery electric bus platform, it comes with integrated cooling- and control systems that meet the highest cyber security demands.
